small LUND THOR PENDANT silver (made by Viking Kristall)

Pendant based on 10th-11th century figurine from Lund (Sweden). Was part of a hnefatafl** game. A very similar piece has been found in Roholte (Denmark).
Size: height 17mm, width 7mm
Materials: made in sterling silver
All the designs from the VIKING KRISTALL are very tough, solid and chunky.
*In Norse mythology Thor was the Norse god associated with thunder, power and protection.
**Hnefatafl games are a family of ancient Nordic and Celtic strategy board games played on a checkered or latticed gameboard with two armies of uneven numbers. Most probably they are based upon the Roman game Ludus latrunculorum. Games in the tafl family were played in Viking age Scandinavia and eventually supplanted by chess in the 12th Century
